IV infusion/inj Max rate: 5 mL/min. Individualized dosage depending on severity of the fibrinogen deficiency, location & extent of bleeding & patient's clinical condition. Normal plasma fibrinogen level: 1.5-4.5 g/L.
Prophylaxis in patient w/ congenital hypo-, dys- or afibrinogenaemia & known bleeding tendency Raise fibrinogen levels to 1 g/L; maintain fibrinogen at this level until haemostasis is secure & >0.5 g/L until wound healing is complete.
Treatment of bleeding Adult Initially 2 g (30 mg/kg) for perioperative bleeding, w/ subsequent infusions as required. Large amount (4-8 g) may be required in case of severe haemorrhage ie, obstet use/placental abruption.
Childn Dose is according to body wt & clinical need, usually 20-30 mg/kg.
